Key features of YSR Pelli Kanuka Scheme
Social security for poor families –
The primary objective of this scheme is to provide financial and social security to the marginalized households in the society, who do not have adequate financial capabilities.
Financial assistance for daughter’s marriage
As per the guidelines of this project, eligible applicants can enroll and attain financial help from the state government. This money must be used to arrange the marriage of the bride.
Assistance amount –
The applicants, falling in the ST, SC, and minority groups will attain Rs.1 lakh each. If ST and SC brides are opting for inter-caste wedding, the applicants will receive Rs. 1.25 lakhs. If the candidate has an OBC certificate, she will receive Rs. 50,000. If the OBC bride opts for an inter caste wedding, she will be entitled to receive Rs. 75,000.

Money for disabled brides –
Applicants, with physical abnormality will attain a financial grant of Rs. 1.5 lakhs from the Andhra Pradesh government.
Daughters of labors –
Such applicants will attain as much as Rs. 1 lakh as financial grant from the state government.
Eligibility for application
Must be residents of the state –
It is pertinent that the girls, who is to be married soon, is a legal and permanent resident of Andhra Pradesh.
Only brides can apply –
The scheme will consider the applications, which have been submitted by the brides.
Age requirement –
If the bride is less than 18 years of age, then she cannot apply for this scheme. Only adult girls can get the monetary grant.
Family income requirement –
The bride’s annual family income must be within a certain limit to attain the financial grant. The limit has not been specified by the state government.
Backward castes only –
Only the brides, who fall in the Schedule Caste, Schedule Tribe, OBC or minority categories, can register for this welfare scheme.
Disabled brides –
If the bride has a physical disability, then she will be able to enroll for this marriage grant scheme.
Daughters of construction workers –
The scheme has a special reservation for those girls, whose parents are associated with the construction projects. Daughters of rikshwa pullers, auto and taxi drivers can also apply for the money.
Documents necessary for application
Residential proof certificate –
As this project is implemented and funded by the AP government, only such candidates who possess the permanent and legal residential certificate can apply.
Age proof –
It is mandatory for the girl to submit a copy of her birth certificate. Only those brides, who have completed 18 years, can apply for this scheme.
Caste certificates –
As the scheme only allows ST/SC/OBC and minority sections to apply for the grant, applicants need to get a caste certificate, acquired through the MEESEVA Center in the state. The application will be rejected if the caste certificate is missing.
Disability certificate –
In case the bride has any physical disability, she must furnish a copy, stating the level and nature of the disability. This certificate must be issued by the head of any state government hospital.
ID proof documents –
It is mandatory for the applicant to furnish a photocopy of both the man and the woman who are going to get married.
Family income certificate –
All interested candidates must submit a certificate that highlights the sources of income of the family, along with the annual income sum.
Wedding card –
The applicant must provide a wedding card during the application process. The card must contain the personal details and address of the bride and groom and their parents. It must also highlight the date and venue of the wedding.
Photographs –
It has been stated in the scheme draft that both the bride and the groom must submit a copy of their recently clicked photograph. The preferred dimension is passport sized photos of the soon to be wedded couple.
How to Apply For YSR Pelli Kanua Scheme
The Andhra Pradesh government has presented the scheme draft in the state cabinet. It will pass soon, and the respective departments will take the necessary steps for its implementation.
